Mubarak Shah, Sultan

Mubarak Shah, Sultan
(?-1434)
The second sultan of the Saiyid dynasty, Mubarak Shah succeeded on the throne of his father, Khizr Khan, in 1421. Mubarak asserted his independence by re-moving the name of the Timurid ruler Mirza Shah Rukh from the ser-mon of Friday prayers. He also suppressed the Khokhar chief Jas-rath, who had become very powerful in the Punjab and was constantly being encouraged by the Timurid prince Shaikh Ali to defy the Delhi sultan. Mubarak Shah was murdered in 1434 at the insti-gation of a disgruntled noble.
